The MA(RC) year is almost at its end. I'm busy putting together my portfolio and kicking myself for not writing on the blog daily. Damn!
What a journey it has been...

I haven't written anything in quite a while. I am a bit down , feel like what's the point to anything... But then I am reminded that there is this MA(RC) journey that I have to see to completion. As Steve Jobs would say, ".. press the reset button". I am on my second week of the second placement. I have hardly done anything in terms of my proposal. NOTHING. My favourite uncle passed away. Uncle Musa, it is still very difficult for me to say, the late, I mean really. He was my other father. On numerous occassions I would call on him when unsure of anything, especially my car issues. Yoh, I missed him even more on Sunday, his funeral was on Saturday. We had a car tyre puncture, I was so tempted too call his number knowing he would come and help.
Then yesterday, I see my childhood friend at her aunt's house. Only to find that her 30 year old, younger sister has passed on. Asanda Mbingeleli "Sandololo" as we would affectionately call her. I know this Masters hangs like the Chicken Licken orangutan ad on my shoulder, but for now, I am giving my loved ones my attention. Life happens, I will complete by the end of the year, but I am taking it easy...
Ja neh, life is short. You know it just made me realise that I shouldn't take my loved ones for granted. One never knows when the bell will ring...

Yeah, neh! How true is it that each journey leads you somewhere... Everything happens for a reason...wow! when I had to do the psychobiography on a famous person last week. I had to think long and hard. I didn't know who to choose. Somehow Steve Jobs came to mind. Yes, there's a book compiled by his colleagues,"The Steve Jobs way" here at home, and yes I was excited by the connecting the dots quote. But never did it dawn on me that he's been in situations where if he didn't have a level head he would't have amounted to anything. I can't stop thanking God almighty for raising me above sticky, muddy situations. I have learnt that focusing on own goals leads you to the best self you can ever be. See, I am more of a recipient than an author of the Possible Selves study. I had to look inward, to find and acknowledge my own hopes and fears to be able to chart a way forward.

Networking
I can't believe it's been a whole week since I last made an entry. What an interesting week it's been.
Attended Ethics workshops from Wednesday till Friday. Widened my Unisa circle, working with the M.Clin students. This workshop was quite an eye opener, as a person who has worked in a healthcare environment, it is interesting to see how some issues are taken for granted. I promise myself and my clients here and now, that I will be fair in my practice :-) Legalities...

Connecting the dots backwards ... Steve Jobs
Because believing that the dots will connect down the road will give you the confidence to follow your heart. even when it leads you off the well worn path. Steve Jobs

SKILLS
AND ABILITIES: (Time management, networking, presentation,
event management, project management, writing, verbal communication, budget
co-ordination, copywriting, human resources, conflict resolution,
confidentiality and organizing and storing of information)
My career experiences
have enabled me to work closely with the management team and learn from the
best. Marketing has opened up chances that include being able to find a balance
between what the client wants and effectively delivering what the business can
offer. I have worked with the best marketing mentors and have been exposed to a
number of projects where I had to work in a team and still meet deadlines.
The time limitation on
each campaign has taught me to plan well, work systematically and keep my
reports up-to-date. At the same time, having to defend and explain my decisions
and recommendations, during discussions; especially when reporting back to my
superior. Our extensive use of computers for analysis and preparation of
presentations and reports has made me familiar with Microsoft spreadsheet, word
processing and PowerPoint presentation packages.
